This is the place to show off your pictures of the sky, identify clouds, and to discuss how specific cloud types form and what they can tell you about current and future weather.
This community initially began with two grad students at Colorado State University. We, the admins, would compare our massive individual collections of cloud pictures and would run up to the roof of the building to marvel at the vast variety of clouds. It was a great reprieve from our rigorous doctoral program and motivated us to share our knowledge with others.
Dr. Angela Rowe is currently a Research Scientist in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Nick Guy is currently an Associate Research Scientist in the Dept. of Atmospheric Science at the University of Wyoming, where he also serves as the Project Manager of the Wyoming King Air research aircraft. Both of us were awarded the degree of Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, continue to actively be involved in weather research, and as you may have guessed, love clouds!
Our community initially grew through Facebook (check out our page here: (http://www.facebook.com/CommunityCloudAtlas).
We also are on Twitter. Follow us at @TheCloudAtlas and tag your cloud photos with #CommunityCloudAtlas.
E-mail us with your pictures at CommunityCloudAtlas@gmail.com
With this WordPress page, we hope to better organize the many pictures we receive and tag them in a more effective way to help you understand the different cloud types and admire the variety that exists around the world!
